Renault-Nissan CEO Carlos Ghosn predicts car sales in Europe will expand 2% to 13.3 million units this year, up from the company's estimate early this week of 1%-2% growth.
The upgrade followed Thursday's anticipated announcement by the European Central Bank of a €1.1 trillion bond purchase scheme to help stimulate the eurozone's economy. The bank says it will buy bonds at a rate of €60 billion per month through at least September 2016.
Renault's sales in Europe jumped nearly 13% to 1.46 million last year. The company's global growth was 3%. Renault expects the worldwide car market will grow 2% this year.
