Ford Motor Co. is urging as many as 19,000 owners of 2015 model Edge crossovers to have their vehicles inspected for a possible water leak that could soak the dash, footwell carpets and floorpan, Consumer Reports notes.
Ford characterizes the issue as a customer satisfaction matter and doesn't plan a formal recall. The leaks involve a faulty seal directly behind the hood hinges at the base of the vehicle's A-pillars, according to the carmaker.
Owners' vehicles could be kept by dealers for a three-day assessment if evidence of leakage is discovered. Dry cars will receive urethane sealant in the A-pillar seams.
