Ford Motor Co. has lost a U.S. Supreme Court appeal of its claim that the Internal Revenue Service owes the company $470 million in interest on tax overpayments dating back more than 30 years.
The court allowed to stand a 2014 U.S. appellate court ruling that rejected Ford's argument. The company claimed the IRS should pay interest on excess taxes Ford paid in 1983-1980 and 1992-1994.
