California-based electric vehicle maker Fisker Inc. has christened its first model, which will be unveiled in January, the Ocean.
The carmaker, which is headed by designer Henrik Fisker, will begin taking reservations for the all-electric compact crossover late next month. Production is due to begin in late 2021, with customer deliveries targeted in 2022.

Measuring 183 inches from bumper to bumper (comparable to the Chevrolet Equinox), the Ocean will feature a panoramic sunroof. The latter will include solar panels that partially recharge the car’s battery.
The 80-kWh lithium-ion battery is expected to provide a range of 250-300 miles, depending on operating conditions.
The interior will be made from a host of environmentally friendly vegan materials. This includes polycarbonate polyurethane surfaces with reinforced rayon backing, upholstery derived from recycled polyester fibers and plastic bottles, and fully recycled carpeting made from used fishing net nylon. Fisker also plans to reuse discarded rubber waste generated during tire manufacturing.
