Hybrid car startup Fisker Automotive Inc. has hired Chicago-based turnaround firm Huron Consulting Group Inc. to manage the automaker's daily operations while it seeks a buyer or investor, Bloomberg News reports.
Fisker tells the news service that Huron executive Hugh Sawyer also is serving as its chief administrative officer.
The Anaheim, Calif.-based carmaker retained Evercore Partners Inc. in December to find a buyer, partner or investor. Fisker is seeking first-round bids by early next month, Bloomberg says, citing unidentified sources.
The automaker could face a cash crunch if it doesn't raise fresh capital by mid-year, according to the news service. It says bidding interest ranges from buying Fisker outright to acquiring its technology or becoming a strategic partner.
