Ferrari NV tells investors it will introduce 15 new models between 2019 and 2022, adding that it expects a “significantly” higher average selling price for them.
The company predicts its earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortization will rise to about €1.9 billion ($2.2 billion) by 2022 from €1 billion in 2017 and an expected €1.1 billion this year.
That goal is slightly below the €2 billion target—representing 14% annual growth—set by the late Sergio Marchionne. New CEO Louis Camilleri describes the revised objective as “ambitious but doable.”
Camilleri also tells investors that Ferrari is delaying the debut of its Purosangue hybrid SUV/crossover vehicle until about 2020 to make the vehicle “perfect.” He adds that he was openly skeptical about Ferrari building an SUV but says he has become an “enthusiastic supporter” after seeing the vehicle’s design and special features.
Ferrari intends to offer a hybrid powertrain in 60% of the vehicles it builds by 2022. The company also will add multiple V-6 engines over the next four years.
