Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV is adding another nine days of production downtime for its luxury Maserati Levante crossover vehicle, according to Italy’s FIOM labor union.
The plant in Mirafiori, Italy, was advised earlier this month that two weeks of output would be eliminated. The facility also is reducing its output of Alfa Romeo Stelvio SUVs and Giulia sport sedans.
FIOM says FCA originally blamed the cutbacks on new import regulations in China that hurt demand for the vehicles. But earlier this week CEO Sergio Marchionne told analysts the company is experiencing no “structural issues” in China.
