Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV is seeking reparations from multiple international shippers it says conspired to fix prices, Reuters reports.
In a complaint filed with the Federal Maritime Commission, FCA notes that all of the shippers it cites have pleaded guilty to price fixing or agreed to do so in a U.S. Dept. of Justice probe that began five years ago. FCA says the shippers stifled competition by illegally colluding to rig bids, fix prices and allocate customers and routes.
But the carmaker complains that none of the shippers and unnamed co-conspirators have paid compensation for their illegal activities.
FCA is demanding compensation from these shipping companies:
- Wallenius Wilhelmsen Logistics
- Eukor Car Carriers
- Nippon Yusen Kabushiki Kaisha
- Mitsui Lines
- Compania Sud Americana de Vapores
- Hoegh Autoliners and its affiliates
