Wolfgang Schreiber, a former executive at Volkswagen AG, has sued the carmaker for hundreds of millions of euros in royalty payments for a dual-clutch transmission he helped develop while there, Der Spiegel reports.
As head of transmission development for the company’s VW brand in 1996-2003, Schreiber helped created a dual-clutch gearbox now used in millions of VW brand cars. He later headed product development at the group’s Bugatti unit, then served until 2014 as CEO of VW’s Bentley Motors luxury car brand.
Der Spiegel, which cites documents filed in a Munich court, says Schreiber has turned down a €20 million offer from VW. His lawsuit demands more “adequate” compensation, according to the newspaper.
