Financial experts in Germany are slightly more optimistic about the country's current economic conditions. But they also are slightly less positive about the longer term outlook, according to the ZEW Indicator of Economic Sentiment.
The closely watched index declined by 1.8 points to 29.7 in July, continuing a downward trend that began in March when the index was at 54.8. Any number above zero indicates positive sentiment.
But ZEW says this month's mild decline suggests Germany's financial community has not been overly concerned about the impact on their country of the Greek crisis or China's slowing economic growth. The experts are less optimistic about the eurozone: That index fell 11 points to 42.7, according to ZEW.
