Germany’s financial market experts, whose optimism about the country’s economy improved in March, grew even more confident in April, according to the ZEW Indicator of Economic Sentiment.
The Mannheim-based economic research group says “surprisingly positive” economic news from China helped offset worries about slower growth among emerging markets.
ZEW’s index, which indicates attitude about future conditions, gained 6.9 points to 11.2 in April. But the center’s index for current conditions in Germany fell 3 points to 47.7.
The same group of financial experts also are growing more optimistic about the future of the eurozone economy. That indicator climbed 10.9 points to 21.5. The index for current conditions in the eurozone slipped 0.3 points to a negative 12.1.
