A U.S. federal judge has thrown out the $3 billion lawsuit filed against General Motors Co. last summer by Spyker Cars NV.
The Dutch supercar maker claimed that GM pushed its Saab Automobile unit into bankruptcy in 2011 by blocking an attempt to sell the company to China's Zhejiang Youngman Lotus Automobile Co.
GM retained rights to technology it contributed to Saab when it sold the Swedish company to Spyker in 2010. The judge ruled that the deal required Spyker to obtain GM's permission before selling or licensing the American company's technologies.
GM objected to several bids for Saab, claiming that a sale would transfer technology to companies that could use it to compete with the American company or its ventures in China.
