Honda Motor Co.'s Acura unit is recalling about 76,000 of its 2004-2008 TSX sedans because their electronic control units could corrode and cause the engine to stall.

The campaign involves cars in Washington, D.C., and the 22 states in the country's snow belt. Honda plans to begin the recall in mid-April.

The ECU is housed in a metal case in the driver's footwell. Honda says the case could corrode if the carpet around it becomes saturated with road salt and melted snow tracked in on the driver's shoes.

Dealers will install a water-resistant cover over the ECU. No crashes or injuries related to the problem have been reported.
