PSA Group’s Citroen unit says its microscopic Ami One concept car represents the brand’s vision for future urban mobility.
Weighing about 940 lbs, the quirky two-seater measures just 98 inches long and 59 inches tall. Top speed is limited to 28 mph, which would allow the vehicle to be driven without a license in some European countries.
Citroen envisions such vehicles being used mainly in car-sharing schemes by young people in crowded cities. The vehicle is designed to be inexpensive but durable, according to the carmaker.
The Ami One’s lithium-ion battery provides a driving range of 100 km (62 miles). Citroen says the pack can be fully replenished within two hours at a public charging station.
The tiny vehicle will be publicly unveiled next month at the Geneva auto show. Citroen’s exhibit will feature in-booth driving demonstrations to showcase the car’s compact size and utility.
