PSA Peugeot Citroen plans to begin selling an updated version of its Citroen Berlingo electric delivery van in Europe in the second half of 2013.
Citroen has been selling the first-generation Berlingo EV, mainly for fleets, for more than a decade. The new model shares its platform with the Peugeot Partner electric van.
The front-drive Berlingo Electrique uses a DC electric motor that makes 67 hp and 147 lb-ft of torque. The motor is driven by a 343-kg (756-lb) lithium-ion battery rated at 22.5 kWh.
PSA says the EV can accelerate from zero to 100 kph in 19 seconds, achieve a top speed of 109 kph (68 mph) and travel about 170 km (106 miles) per charge. The van has a payload of 685 kg (1,500 lbs), the same as the conventional piston-powered Berlingo.
