Chrysler Group LLC posted 18% hikes in unit sales (to 711,000 units) and revenue (to $20.7 billion) in July-September. Net income grew 32% to $611 million.
Increases were driven by strong demand for the company's redesigned Jeep Cherokee SUV and all-new Chrysler 200 sedan.
Chrysler's third-quarter operating profit climbed 10% to $946 million. Free cash flow swung to a positive $412 million from a negative $343 million a year ago. Net industrial cash more than doubled to $680 million.
Chrysler's market share gained 1.1 points to 12.3% in the U.S. and 0.6 points to 14.9% in Canada. Third-quarter sales volume increased 19% to 536,000 vehicles in the U.S. and 15% to 78,000 units in Canada. International sales rose 18% to 79,000 units. Volume in Mexico dropped 5% to 18,000 vehicles.
The company confirms its full-year guidance for shipments of about 2.9 million vehicles, more than $80 billion in revenue and an operating profit between $3.7 billion and $4 billion. Chrysler anticipates adjusted net income of $2.3 billion-$2.5 billion this year.
