Jaguar Land Rover has announced a recall in China to fix transmission problems four days after the Tata Motors Ltd. unit was targeted by state-owned China Central Television.
The campaign will involve 36,500 imported Range Rover Evoque SUVs made from June through December 2014, according to JLR. The vehicles are equipped with 9-speed automatic transmissions the company concedes may be noisy or malfunction.
JLR acknowledged hours after the CCTV broadcast on Sunday that it knew about the gearbox problems. The company also will extend the transmission warranties on the recalled models to seven years or 240,000 km.
