General Motors Co. plans to introduce the redesigned 2016 Chevrolet Volt plug-in hybrid car in only 11 states this year, The Detroit News reports.

GM had planned to make the car available throughout the U.S. this autumn. Instead, the company says it will sell the 2016 model where the Volt sells well: California, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Maryland, Maine, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, Rhode Island and Vermont.

The company plans to begin building the 2017 model Volt, which will offer more driver assistance features, next spring and will make that version available across the country.
