Azra Corp., a Quebec-based real estate development and new energy company, plans to invest C$40 million ($31 million) to install 2,000 electric charging stations across Canada over the next 18 months. The network will support the launch of the Renault Twizy electric city car in the country.
The company previously announced it would begin leasing the Twizy in Canada through its Azra Network distribution centers later this year. The tiny EV is certified by Canada’s transportation department as a low-speed vehicle that can be operated at speeds as high as 40 km/h (24 mph).
The charging stations will be located in shopping and office centers. Each station will include four ports with charger ranging from 7 kW to 50 kW. Customers can lease the Twizy for C$99 ($77) per month, including registration and insurance costs.
