The exclusive upscale brand is ready to offer more than one model, CEO Stephan Winkelmann tells Autocar. He says the company is looking at a variety of body styles, including SUV/crossovers.
Winkelmann joined Bugatti in January after stints at VW Group’s Audi and Lamborghini units. He led Lamborghini during the development of the brand’s new Urus crossover vehicle.
Bentley and Rolls-Royce also recently have launched crossover models. Earlier this month, Ferrari said it’s delaying the upcoming Purosangue hybrid crossover until to 2022 to make the vehicle “perfect.”
In 2016, former Bugatti chief Wolfgang Durheimer said the company was evaluating four options for a second model. These included an updated version of the 2009 Galibier concept sedan, which Durheimer favored, along with a smaller sports car, an all-electric model and an SUV/crossover.
