Volkswagen AG’s Bugatti unit has dispatched a team of technicians to customer homes to follow up on the recent recall of the brand’s Chiron supercar.

A faulty weld could cause the driver’s seat to slide out of position while the Chiron is in motion. Bugatti has delivered 47 of the $3 million vehicles worldwide—including a dozen in the U.S.—since production started earlier this year.

The so-called “flying doctors” will inspect each vehicle to assess its condition and, if necessary, arrange for the car to be shipped in an enclosed container to a Bugatti service facility. Bugatti plans to replace the full seat assembly on affected models.

Powered by a quad-turbo 8.0-liter W-16 engine, the Chiron generates nearly 1,500 hp and 1,180 lb-ft of torque. Bugatti plans to limit production of the vehicle to 500 units.
