Jaguar Land Rover Ltd.’s all-electric I-Pace crossover vehicle was named German Car of the Year by a group of journalists.

The I-Pace (pictured) was applauded for its handling, driveline and overall “significance,” by the panel of 12 independent automotive journalists in Germany. This is the inaugural year for the award.

The new Jaguar EV outscored the Audi A6 sedan and Volkswagen Touareg crossover, which finished second and third, respectively. Other finalists were the Hyundai Nexo fuel cell car and Peugeot 508 premium sedan, which were chosen from an initial field of 59 new and redesigned vehicles.
