Revenue at Robert Bosch GmbH grew 5% in the first quarter of this year. The company expects full-year sales to rise 3%-5% from €51.5 billion in 2011.

But Bosch cautions that high raw materials costs and heavy investment in new businesses may prevent it from reaching its goal of a 7%-8% return on sales for the full-year.

The company expects capital spending and R&D outlays to exceed €7 billion. Bosch says it is hiring 4,500 R&D employees this year.
