BMW, VW and ChargePoint have installed a combined 95 fast-charging centers along the East and West coasts of the U.S.

The direct-current systems are positioned about 50 miles apart to enable EV drivers to navigate two of America’s most heavily traveled corridors. Branches of the system reach into such areas as Cape Cod, the Jersey Shore, Lake Tahoe, Napa and Sonoma.

EV drivers can local the charging sites by using ChargePoint’s mobile app or similar apps offered by BMW and VW. The facilities offer 24-kW and 50-kW charging via SAE Combo connectors. Direct-current charging significantly shortens the time required to replenish EV batteries.
