Bentley to Offer Plug-In Hybrid Powertrain in Three Years

Volkswagen AG's Bentley Motors Group plans to debut a plug-in hybrid option in the SUV it will introduce in 2017.
Bentley says it will offer a plug-in hybrid option in at least 90% of its product lineup by 2020. The system will be unveiled at the Beijing auto show later this month in the Bentley Hybrid Concept, a car based on its flagship Mulsanne sedan.
The company estimates its hybrid system will provide as much as 25% more power and 70% lower carbon dioxide emissions compared with its current powertrains. It also says the powertrain will be capable of propelling its vehicles at least 50 km (30 miles) on electric power alone.
