Audi AG’s unionized workers in Gyor, Hungary, are threatening to strike unless they receive monthly pay hikes of 20,000 forint ($72) retroactive to Jan. 1.
The workers also want improved employee benefits and a one-time 100,000- forint ($360) bonus, Reuters reports. On Tuesday the union rejected two proposals from Audi management.
Monthly pay in Hungary’s automotive sector averages 283,900 forints ($1,022)—about 15% above the national average, according to government data. But Reuters says the industry has been losing jobs as workers migrate to better-paying positions in western Europe and elsewhere.
