Audi AG has canceled an Aug. 30 event in Brussels where it planned to unveil the production version of its first purpose-built electric vehicle, the e-tron crossover.
The carmaker says it now will hold the so-called “summit” marketing event in the U.S. at an unspecified time and place. Audi still plans to launch the vehicle on time later this year in Europe and early next year in the U.S.
Audi cites “organizational reasons” as the cause for the Brussels cancelation. The announcement comes a week after CEO Rupert Stadler was arrested in Germany to prevent him from obstructing an investigation into Audi and parent Volkswagen Group’s diesel emissions cheating case.
Audi plans to offer an electrified version of every vehicle in its lineup by 2025. The carmaker forecasts its annual sales of such vehicles will total 800,000 units by then.
