Irvine, Calif.-based Aria Group unveiled a hybrid supercar, dubbed the FXE, this week at the Los Angeles auto show.
The company, which specializes in building concept and limited production models for other carmakers, aims to launch the FXE by the end of the decade. The car is an updated version of the Fast Eddy concept that Aria showed last year in Los Angeles.
Power comes from a 6.2-liter V-8 engine and a pair of electric motors that generate a combined 1,150 hp and 1,316 lb-ft of torque. Teamed with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission, the powertrain can propel the car from zero to 60 mph in 3.1 seconds on its way to a top speed of 220 mph, according to Aria.
Carbon fiber is used throughout the car’s chassis and body to keep weight down to 3,450 lbs. The FXE adds a rear wing and more aggressive front end to differentiate itself from the earlier Fast Eddy concept. That vehicle derived its name from former General Motors designer Ed Taylor—the father of Aria co-founder Charles Taylor.
Aria previously has worked with Ford, GM, Honda, Kia, Mazda, Tesla and Toyota.
