Japan’s Alpine Electronics Inc. plans to move its headquarters for the Americas from Torrance, Calif. to Auburn Hills, Mich., next year.

The move, which is expected to be completed in April, will position the audio supplier closer to its automotive customers. Most sales, engineering and support positions will be relocated to Michigan, but Alpine says it will maintain a presence in southern California to support local customers.

Alpine Electronics of America Inc. is headed by Sakae Okuda.
