Allison Transmission Holdings Inc. netted $58 million in the first quarter of this year compared to $37 million in the same period of 2011. Revenue climbed 16% to $602 million.
The Indianapolis, Ind.-based company attributes the gains to stronger global demand for commercial vehicles. Allison makes automatic transmissions for medium- and heavy-duty trucks, military vehicles and off-highway vehicles and hybrid systems for buses.
Allison, which went public in March, expects revenue to grow 5%-6% this year from $2.2 billion in 2011.
