Volkswagen AG is recalling 35,300 VW and Porsche brand vehicles to remedy a defective electronic airbag controller.

If a power supply capacitor in the module fails, it could deactivate the airbags or trigger them when it shouldn’t.
The VW vehicles involved are certain 2015-2016 model CC sport sedans and Tiguan small crossovers. The Porsche recall targets 2016 model Cayman sports cars and Panamera sport sedans, plus 2016-2017 model Porsche 911 and Boxster sports cars.
Dealers, who are expected to begin making repairs in mid-September, will install new software and replace the control module if necessary.
