Michael Accavitti has suddenly quit as general manager of Honda Motor Co.'s Acura brand in the U.S.

Accavitti, 56, joined Honda's U.S. unit as chief marketing officer in 2011 and moved into his most recent role 15 months ago. He previously worked at Chrysler Group for more than 20 years, leaving the company in 2009 shortly after being named CEO of the Dodge brand.

Accavitti's replacement is Jon Ikeda, who had been head of auto design for Honda's R&D Americas unit. Ikeda headed the design team that penned the 2004 Acura TL and helped Honda set up a separate Acura design studio in California three years later.
