South Korea’s five carmakers expanded their combined domestic workforce 9% to 126,700 people between 2011 and 2016, according to their annual reports.
Employment growth during the five years at Hyundai (+18% to 67,500 workers), Kia (+5% to 34,100) and SsangYong Motor (12% to 4,800) offset cutbacks at Renault Samsung (-26% to 4,200) and GM Korea (-6% to 16,000).
