Tom Beard, Cool Dude.

| GROW

I have a few less work-related tales about Tom Beard.  In January 1992, Bill and I had our first official date, outside of co-worker social events.  Bill was hired in July of 1991 after interning a few summers at Gardner.  I invited him to the Warren Zevon concert (yup, Werewolves of London) at Bogart’s music venue on Vine in Clifton (unaware to any of our GBM co-workers at the time, sneaky!)   We entered Bogart’s, looking for a table when low and behold, who was there that evening, but Tom & Sue Beard and Robin Bergstrom (past editor of Automotive Manufacturing).  Busted!!  Tom was his usual friendly and cool self, and invited us to join them at their table.  Knowing Tom, he probably didn’t think anything of it and just assumed a couple of co-workers were out together to enjoy some great music.  Cool dude!
