Global sales of all-electric cars will top 1 million units this year for the first time, says Jeff Schuster, president of global vehicle forecasting for LMC Automotive.
U.S. demand in 2018 will reach at least 180,000 EVs across 17 models, according to Schuster. He predicts that by 2025 there will be 120 all-electric available, enough to push sales to at least 650,000 units.
Schuster says demand is likely to surge by 2025 as prices drop to parity with piston-powered cars and charging times become comparable with those of a traditional fill-up.
