“This is the Motor City and this is what we do,” Eminem says from the stage of the Fox Theater on Woodward Avenue in downtown Detroit. There’s a Chrysler 200 parked out front. It was built north of the city in the Sterling Heights Assembly Plant. The Fox is about 15 minutes away from the Chrysler Jefferson North Assembly Plant, the only car plant physically in the city of Detroit.

The ad that appeared on yesterday’s Super Bowl is certainly one that all of us in and around the city can appreciate and feel proud of, regardless of whether we’re Eminem fans or like the 200.

Later, in a somewhat less hard-ass presentation, there was Chevy, on “Glee,” in full musical extravaganza. Lea Michele started the evening singing “America the Beautiful,” then did the Detroit version, “See the U.S.A. in Your Chevrolet.”

A Big Night for the Motor City.

And maybe someday Bill Ford, Jr., will get the Lions in the game.
