A center stack concept that uses a curved glass surface as well as shaped “buttons” for climate control functions has been developed by Preh (preh.com/en), a supplier specializing in climate and driver control systems, electronic control units and sensors. There is a touch pad in front of the armrest that provides haptic feedback when the driver touches the surface; it works similar to a computer mouse, directing a cursor across the main screen and allowing points to be selected by making a virtual click.

Preh claims that its conceptual console is more smart phone-like in interaction than other approaches.
