Mega-suppliers ZF Friedrichshafen AG and Faurecia SA have agreed to work together on next-generation interior and safety technologies for self-driving cars.
The companies describe the non-capital agreement as a ”special advanced engineering partnership.” They plan to identify and develop safety and interior systems for the various interior configurations and occupant positions—including swiveling and fully reclining seats—that could occur within autonomous vehicles.
The so-called “cockpit of the future” will be safe, connected, versatile and predictive, according to the partners. In addition to the partnership, the companies will continue to work independently on current and upcoming projects.
