U.S. consumers born after 1976 are far more trusting of technologies that will enable self-driving cars than are those born before 1964, according to J.D. Power.

The market analytics company’s 2016 U.S. Tech Choice Study finds general interest in such precursor technologies such as radar, cameras, “smart” headlamps, traffic jam assist and predictive vehicle control. But when it comes to apply them to fully automated cars, confidence in the technology relates directly with age.

Power says slightly more than half of consumers less than 40 years old say they would trust a fully automated vehicle. That ratio compares with 23% of Baby Boomers and 18% of consumers over the age of 70.
