Workers at Chrysler’s Dundee Engine Plant Reject Contract

Hourly employees at Chrysler Group LLC's four-cylinder engine factory in Dundee, Mich., have overwhelmingly voted against a tentative agreement between the company and the United Auto Workers union.
The Detroit News reports that nearly three-quarters of the unionized workers at the plant rejected the pact.
Chrysler says the union vote won't halt production at the facility because its 2009 deal with the UAW forbids any strikes until 2015.
The Dundee employees are negotiating their first contract under the umbrella of the United Auto Workers union agreement with the carmaker. Those workers previously had an individual UAW pact with Chrysler. The union says some of those member were unhappy they wouldn't get the bonus that typically follows ratification of a contract.
