Toyota Motor Corp. is recalling 52,000 of its 2011-2012 model Avalon sedans in the U.S. because wiring to their audio system's subwoofers could short out and cause a fire.
Toyota says cargo in the trunk could shift and allow wiring to contact the subwoofer's bare metal frame. The company reports two complaints about overheated woofers, but it says no accidents or fires have been blamed on the problem.
