Former Volkswagen Group CEO Martin Winterkorn is preparing to resign from his other senior jobs with the company, according to multiple media reports in Germany.
Winterkorn stepped down as CEO on Sept. 23 after the diesel emission test cheating scandal broke in the U.S. and spread globally. But he has remained as chairman of the group's Audi brand, the Scania commercial truck unit and five-month-old Truck & Bus GmbH holding company.
Winterkorn also is CEO of Porsche Automobil Holding SE, the company that owns a majority stake in VW Group.
Sources tell Reuters that labor leaders on the VW board have been pressing Winterkorn to leave his remaining VW posts. Critics say his exit from all VW activities will be critical in helping the company recover from the admission it sold 11 million diesel vehicles equipped to cheat government emission standards.
