Volkswagen AG is preparing to remedy fuel leaks, electrical faults and transmission problems in 2.64 million of its Audi, SEAT, Skoda and VW vehicles.
The largest action will involve some 1.6 million vehicles equipped with the company's 7-speed dual-clutch (DSG) transmission. The recall responds to widespread owner complaints in several countries about rough shifting, sudden acceleration, excessive noise and loss of power. About half the affected vehicles are in China, where VW has conducted two previous recalls to fix DSG gearboxes.
VW also will replace a defective electric fuse in about 800,000 VW Tiguan small SUVs made between early 2008 and mid-2011. A third recall involves possible fuel line leaks in the engine compartments of 239,000 diesel-powered VW Amarok pickup trucks produced between 2010 and mid-2013.
