Volkswagen of America says it intends to expand it 650-dealer network in the U.S. by 100 stores over the next four years.
The program aims to help the VW brand meet its goal of selling 800,000 cars per year by 2018.
VoA CEO Michael Horn tells reporters at the Detroit auto show that sales will rise as the company redesigns its Jetta and Passat sedans and adds two more crossover vehicles (a stretched compact Tiguan and all-new midsize model, both in 2017).
He says VW also hopes to revive its fortunes in the U.S. with a shorter product life cycle, new engineering center in Tennessee and a shift to more local decision making.
