Volkswagen AG is halting sales in the U.S. and Canada of Audi, Porsche and VW brand vehicles equipped with 3.0-liter V-6 diesels. The temporary suspension comes two days after the Environmental Protection Agency said the engines were rigged to cheat emission certification tests.

Affects models are:

  • 013-2015 Audi Q7 large crossovers
  • 2014-2015 Audi A6, A7 and A8 sedans and Q5 midsize crossovers
  • 2014-2016 Porsche Cayenne SUVs
  • 2013-2016 VW Touareg SUVs

VW says the targeted V-6 diesel uses a different emission control system than the 482,000 4-cylinder diesels condemned by EPA in September for cheating on emission tests. The company insists the larger engine complies with government requirements.
