The campaign revisits the same vehicles 2009-2010 model Routan vans recalled last year to fix the same problem. But that campaign fitted a new trim ring that the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says was ineffective.
The Routan was supplied to VW by Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV. Last month FCA launched its own repeat recall covering 702,600 of its 2008-2010 model Dodge Grand Caravan and Chrysler Town and Country minivans to replace their ignition switches.
