Owners of Volkswagen Beetle and Sagitar (Jetta) cars staged demonstrations at VW dealerships in several Chinese cities on Sunday to protest the company's handling of a recall to address a rear suspension problem.
Volkswagen AG is calling back slightly more than 1 million of the cars, including 581,100 in China, to fortify rear suspension arms that could crack in a crash and later break. VW says there is no safety threat for cars that haven't been hit in the rear in a crash.
Nervous owners aren't so sure. A Chinese social media network is urging Sagitar owners to launch new protests at VW dealerships in 100 cities on Nov. 9.
