VW Opens California Tech Center

Volkswagen AG has opened a $27 million technical center in Oxnard, Calif. The 64,000-sq-ft facility will become fully operational this autumn.

The Test Center California will coordinate VW powertrain development, emission testing, government regulatory compliance and field quality testing for the American market. The facility includes a dealer service and training center and offices for a staff of about 50.

VW says the lab also will support Volkswagen group's Audi, Bentley, Bugatti and Porsche brands.
