VW Launches SEAT Brand in China

Volkswagen AG's SEAT brand has begun selling its vehicles in China at eight dealerships that opened last week. The brand aims to open seven more outlets by year-end.

SEAT's first model for China is the Leon small family car. The brand plans to add the next-generation Ibiza supermini later this year and the Alhambra MPV in 2013. SEAT says it is positioning its lineup as sporty leisure vehicles with functionality.

SEAT vehicles sold in China will be built in Europe.
