VW Hires Apple Exec to Head Digital Strategy
Volkswagen AG has hired Johann Jungwirth, who reportedly had been working on Apple Inc.’s secretive Titan electric car program, as head of digitalization strategy, according to the company.
Volkswagen AG has hired Johann Jungwirth, who reportedly had been working on Apple Inc.’s secretive Titan electric car program, as head of digitalization strategy, according to the company.
Jungwirth, 42, joined Apple in late 2014 as director of the company’s Mac Systems Engineering unit. He moved to the Titan EV team last February.
Before his brief tenure at Apple, The Rumanian-born electrical engineer was vice president of infotainment and telematics for Daimler AG’s Mercedes-Benz Car unit. He also headed Mercedes’ research center in Silicon Valley for five years.
At VW, he will report directly to CEO Matthias Mueller. The company offered no details about his assignment.
